Community Care Advisor - Several positions available

Neighbourhood Houses are seeking up to 11 FTE position for highly skilled professionals to implement a new and innovative model for individual, family and community support in Tasmania.

Up to 11 full-time equivalent positions are to be based in local regions across Tasmania.  The successful applicants will be working with clusters of Neighbourhood Houses to respond to individual and community issues.

Community Care Advisors will work in partnership with existing community, family and individual supports in a sustainable manner.

COVID-19 Vaccination -Additional Support Clinics open now

There are spaces available this week in the Additional Support Clinics in Hobart and Launceston. Additonal Support clinics have been set up specifically to assist people with disability, mental illness and their carers and support workers - or someone who needs additional time and assistance to get their vaccine.

The clinics are located at:

South - Blundstone Arena, 15 Derwent Street, Bellerive

North - Vinnnies Building, 330-336 Invermay Road, Mowbray

Neighbourhood Houses from King Island to Dunalley, St Helens to Zeehan are celebrating their many achievements over the last challenging year, in Neighbourhood House Week 2021. 

Election Priorities for Neighbourhood Houses - 2021

Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania calls on political parties to fund additional jobs in the Neighbourhood House sector to increase support to local communities to prepare for the challenges ahead as a result of the pandemic.

In addition, we request support for the vital work towards food security in Neighbourhood Houses.

Rent Relief and Landlord Support Funds

The Tasmanian Government introduced legislation to help both landlords and tenants minimise the economic impact of the pandemic. These protections ended on 31 January 2021 and will not be extended unless circumstances change.

To help assist with the progression out of the emergency period, the Tasmanian Government has:

NHT Advocacy to Stop the Debt Trap

NHT has joined other consumer advocates in calling for Parliament to vote against watered-down protections against predatory lenders.
NHT have supported  a campaign led by the Consumer Action Law Centre to Stop the Debt Trap, and to reject the Federal Government’s proposed changes to laws governing high-cost payday loans and consumer leases, calling for Parliament to vote against the Bill in a submission to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee.
